Gree PU fault code

Gree air conditioning

What it means

DC link capacitor charging fault

The DC link capacitors are not charging correctly at start-up. Gree's own procedure settles this with one measurement across the DC link before anything is replaced.

Safety: DANGER: the DC link holds a lethal charge. This flow asks you to measure it LIVE — if you are not equipped and competent to take a live DC measurement inside the outdoor unit, isolate, discharge through a resistor (approx. 100 Ω 20 W across + and −, per Gree) and treat the fault as a board fault instead. Never short the terminals with a screwdriver.

UK models this code applies to

From the Gree service literature we hold (Gree (Zhuhai) Service Manual, Bora Inverter R32 §9.1 Error Code List) — not a scraped list.

Now the harder half: proving what caused it

PU names a symptom, not a root cause. In the app, the same code opens a guided investigation: what to measure first, the expected values for your exact model, and an honest verdict — including “nothing in this machine is broken” when that's what the readings say.
